New COVID-19 Alert Level Restrictions Announced
28 hours ago
  • Auckland currently Alert Level 3, the rest of New Zealand at Alert Level 2
  • TranzAlpine services currently suspended
  • Services expected to return Sunday 7th March

The New Zealand Government has announced that from 06:00 a.m. Sunday 28th February, New Zealand's alert levels will change, with Auckland at Level 3, and the rest of our nation at Level 2. These levels will remain effective for a minimum of 7 days.

Safeguarding New Zealand from the renewed threat of COVID-19 is our top priority. Regretfully, this means that all of our scenic train services, including TranzAlpine, are cancelled until Sunday 7th March.

If you are booked to travel between Sunday 28th February and Saturday 6th March, then we will be in touch shortly to organise a free transferral to another date or a Letter of Credit.  You can, of course, also receive a full refund.

We are not cancelling any TranzAlpine services beyond Saturday 6th March at this time.  However, any passengers wishing to reorganise their travel plans are welcome to do so. Our fares are all fully flexible and can be cancelled without penalty.

Once again, we are extremely sad to be announcing this cancellation and we hope that these latest cases are quickly isolated allowing us to resume future services.

Most importantly of all, please stay safe New Zealand - we hope to see you aboard soon.
