Catch the TranzAlpine train from Rolleston
You can catch the world-famous TranzAlpine train to Greymouth from Rolleston Railway Station.
Located in east Christchurch, Rolleston Station is the closest to Christchurch Airport. However, we recommend you do not book your train to connect directly with a flight because the TranzAlpine travels through very challenging terrain and weather conditions, which can result in delays.
Please book in advance to ensure the train stops at Rolleston Railway Station.
TranzAlpine train Check In
- Arrive at Station 20 minutes early
- Wait near the centre of the platform for the train to arrive
- A crew member will greet you on the platform once the train has arrived to check you in and provide you with your Boarding Pass and Luggage Labels.
- All wheeled bags, large backpacks, and suitcases will need to be taken to the Luggage Carriage.
