Face Coverings Mandatory on Northern Explorer
2 months ago

The Great Journeys of New Zealand is committed to keeping our customers and crew safe, and playing our part in protecting New Zealand from COVID-19.

In line with the recent Government announcement, wearing a face covering is mandatory on Northern Explorer services from Thursday 19th November, 2020.

This means that you will always need to wear a mask when travelling with us, except for when you are consuming food or drink, or consuming medicines.

Face coverings must be worn by all passengers throughout the journey, irrespective of where you are boarding and disembarking.

The latest information on face coverings is available on the Government COVID-19 website .

We understand that this may change your travel plans. If you wish to change your travel on Northern Explorer as a direct result of the face covering decision, please contact us.

While face coverings are not mandated on Coastal Pacific or TranzAlpine services, we continue to encourage their use.

Thank you for your patience as we work together to beat COVID-19. You can help by:

  • Scanning the COVID-19 Tracer App QR codes at our stations and onboard
  • Maintaining regular hand hygiene
  • Not travelling if sick
  • And, of course, wearing a face covering.  Please bring one with you.
